- The Countryside Council for Wales (CCW) has online maps showing areas in Wales that are normally available to visit on foot, including Statuary and permissive access under the Tir Gofal & Tir Cymen schemes. It also shows areas with exclusions and restrictions. The Area Office of CCW phone 01597-824661 can provide further information.
- Off-Tarmac motor sports in the Brecon Beacons. The Brecon Beacons National Park has an informative leaflet (but this is not available online) about this. It emphasises that "it is an offence under the Road Traffic Act 1988 section 34 (as amended) to ride or drive a mechanically propelled vehicle without permission on common land, hill land, moorland, land not forming part of a road (except for a distance of 15 yards, but then only to park), or on a footpath, bridleway or restricted highway." You can only drive on public roads and your vehicle must be taxed and insured. If in doubt, phone the National Park 01874-624437.
