The Brecon Beacons National Park Authority (BBNPA) was setup in 1957 to conserve and enhance the natural beauty, wildlife and cultural heritage of the 520 square miles of the National Park and promote opportunities for the understanding and enjoyment of the special qualities of the area by the public. - It maintains a GIS MapInfo\Microsoft Access-linked database which stores most of the ecological data collated from internal surveys, commissioned surveys, CCW Phase I and II surveys, records from other organisations and incidental records from the public.
