Geology

The Senni valley contains rocks and a landscapes that are of great interest. Many Geologists are familiar with the term 'Senni Beds', which is rock structure first defined in Senni Valley. It is part of the 'Lower Old Red Sandstone', laid down between the Praghian and Emsian stages, about 410 ma.

The Senni Valley landscape has been created in tropical, sub-tropical, then glacial periods, all of which have left their effects on the valley. This section summarizes our knowledge in this area.
